As song of May, and after having inserted a song of the Beatles, I have decided to propose a beautiful live version of " December will be magic again " by english artist Kate Bush.
One of the characteristics of this singer I have always appreciated is the ability to create in her songs different and often conflicting emotional effects, so that every artistic creation contains, contemporarily and in perfect harmony, sad and cheerful elements that cohabit making the song full of oppositions and emotional contrasts, determining the birth of an almost surreal background with the use of the voice to remark and confirm this formulation.
Despite the presence of the piano used in principal way in the first phase of her artistic story, I have even loved the variety of musical typologies used with some remarkable contacts with classical music, alternative rock and ethnic sounds making a very particular singing with different influences and a melody that is never similar.
The wish to space in other cultural environments emerges for istance in " Wuthering Heights " with a contact with the world of the literature but all her artistic activity is inspired and influenced by social themes and I think that " Breathing " represents one of the most evident aspects in this sense.
But the thing that has always struck me in a special way is the presence of a great talent, favorite and helped by the beginning by David Gilmour and Peter Gabriel that determined the collaboration with artists of different musical orientations and with the creation of an hermetic but often full of meanings music.
" The Kick Inside", " Lionheart" and " The Dreaming ", the albums I prefer, contain all these aspects generally accompanied by a strong emotional tension, so as other beautiful songs like " The man with the child in his eyes" or "Night of the swallow" or the very loved song " Un baiser d' enfant ".
At the moment to decide what Catherine's song to insert as song of May in the site of call of the site of reference my choice has fallen on " December will be magic again ".
I had three versions available for this song that in reality represent three different ways of present herself, a first live version at the piano with a slower sound in comparison to the original version, a second and faster version where emerge some typical and important aspects of her whole artistic story that's the meaning of the movements and the gestures, and the original version ( full of sounds and happiness) proposed as single in 1979.
Then I've decided to insert the first version that, according to me, shows in a complete way her artistic abilities.
